Abstract:Objective：To understand the present situation of nursing staff in nursing homes in Nanjing，and to provide reference for the development of the nursing education for the aged care. Methods：By cluster random sampling method，100 nursing staff in nursing homes from 8 nursing institutions in Nanjing were investigated. Results：（1）basic information of nursing staff：74.4% are female，47.9% are over 50 and 57.4% are graduated from primary and junior high schools.（2）professional level of nursing staff：64.9% have no relevant qualification certificate for nursing care，and 62.8% have no professional title.（3）career attitude of nursing staff：30.9% sincerely like nursing care，and 40.4% are engaged in nursing care for a long time.（4） training for nursing staff：training frequency，mode，form and content need to be improved. Conclusion：The structure of nursing staff in nursing homes in Nanjing is unreasonable，in that the professional level is low and the occupational attraction is not strong. Thus，the vocational training need to be improved urgently.
