Abstract:Objective：To explore the effect of the optimized hospital internet medical consultation process based on constraint theory on improving the efficiency of internet hospital use. Methods：Patients who visited the outpatient department online and offline at the First People’s Hospital of Nantong from September 2022 to March 2023 were selected as research subjects. Constraint theory was applied to investigate and analyze the current situation of patients using the hospital’s internet medical consultation platform. Process optimization was carried out according to the research results，and the usage rate of the internet medical consultation platform before and after optimization was compared. Results：Under the cooperation of multiple departments，the usage rate of the internet medical consultation platform increased from 0.39% to 4.63%. The response time of doctor’s appointments decreased from 37.31±4.11 to 10.37±3.60 minutes. The satisfaction of patients with internet hospital visits increased from 79.03±5.16 to 94.89±7.15 points，the differences are statistically significant.（P < 0.001）. Conclusion：The hospital’s internet medical consultation process optimized based on constraint theory can significantly improve the usage rate of internet medical consultation，shorten the response time of doctor’s appointments，and enhance the patient’s medical experience.
