Abstract:Objective：To conduct a retrospective analysis of 120 cases of medical disputesin a certaingrade-A tertiaryhospital in Hainan Free Trade Zone in the past five years，summarize the characteristics of medical disputes in Hainan Free Trade Zone，and propose preventive measures. Method：120 cases of medical disputes handled by the hospital from 2016 to 2020 were taken as samples，to make general description and analysis of the case. Results：The proportion of medical disputes among non-Hainan people was increasing，from 25% in 2016 to 50% in 2020. the retirees accounted for the highest proportion of medical disputes，accounting for 33.3%. The proportion of medical disputes in the surgical system was the highest，accounting for 40%，followed by the department of obstetrics and gynecology，accounting for 20%. In total，medical disputes were still mainlyconcentrated in surgical departments. The focus of disputes mainly focused on improper diagnosis and treatment，improper operation，unsatisfactory effect and delayed treatment，accounting for 86.7% of the total；the proportion of medical disputes settled through people’s mediation procedures is the highest，accounting for 80%. Conclusion：Strengthen medical safety and medical quality，toenhance the level of medical technology and patient satisfaction. Improvingthe medical risk early warning system and legal risk management system is an important measure to reduce medical accidents
