Abstract:Objective：To explore the status of medical injury liability disputes in Yancheng，analyze the existing problems and propose improvements to reduce medical disputes. Methods：The research adapt retrospective study method，96 cases of medical injury liability disputes in Yancheng from 2016 to 2018 were collected and analyzed. Results：（1）Cases occur frequently in more developed districts. Middle-aged and elderly people account for a high proportion，The medical institutions are mainly secondary or tertiary hospitals，with orthopedics，obstetrics and gynecology and general surgery accounting for the top three；（2）The cases that have entered the substantive trial have been identified，mainly based on medical damage evaluation，81.3% of the cases are evaluated responsible . Among them，medical technology faults and insufficient medical notifications account for the main reasons，identified disability rate reached 72.9%；（3）The average trial time is 11.99 months，and the average compensation for the disputes is about 134，000 yuan. Conclusions：Medical institutions should pay close attention to the quality of medical service；Strengthen the management of high-risk departments and high-risk groups，establish a medical risk warning mechanism，and promptly handle medical disputes.
