Abstract:Objective：The trend and seasonal variation of children’s surgical volume were examined through an analysis of a certain children’s hospital’s surgical volume，and the decision-making framework for the hospital’s scientific management was supplied. Methods：The sample hospital’s surgical volume from 2017 to 2023 was studied. The moving average seasonal index method was used to assess the seasonal variations in surgical volume，and subgroups of children with different age and disease diagnoses were analyzed. Results：The volume of sample hospital surgeries from 2017 to 2023 shows a year-on-year increase with an average annual growth rate of 21.23%. The third quarter was the peak time，with a seasonal index adjusted value of 144.77%，while the fourth quarter was the trough period，with a seasonal index adjusted value of 75.31%，according to the analysis of the moving average seasonal index method. The peak surgery period for children in the infant and toddler groups was the second quarter，and for all other groups it was the third quarter. Subgroup analysis by disease diagnosis showed that the top 5 disease surgery peaks were all in the third quarter. Conclusion：The volume of surgery clearly varies with the season. In accordance with the variation law，hospital managers should arrange related work scientifically and reasonably，and constantly improve the efficiency and business level of hospital services.
