Abstract:Objective：To investigate the application and effect of PDCA cycle in continuous improvement of pediatric patients’ downward transfer. Methods：PDCA was applied to pediatric patients’ downward referral work. According to the four stages of Plan，Execute，Check and Summarize，the reasons for missing downward referral data were analyzed，and improvement measures were developed. The two-way downward referral data before and after PDCA cycle improvement were compared and analyzed，and continuous rectification was carried out. Conclusions：Through the application of PDCA mode，the number of outpatient and emergency transfers in 2021 increased significantly compared with the same period last year，with an increase of 22.15%. From January to June 2022，48 cases of hospitalized children were transferred，a significant increase from 24 cases in the same period last year. The number of outpatient，emergency and inpatient referrals has reached and met the requirements set by the provincial health administration，that is，the annual growth rate of the number of people going to primary medical and health institutions is at least 10 percent. Results：PDCA cycle improved the measures to promote the hierarchical referral work，which was helpful to improve the hospital management level and promote the high quality development of the hospital.
