Abstract:Objective：To investigate the status of attitudes towards hospice care and death of the nursing students in higher vocational colleges，and to analyze the relationship between them，so as to provide evidence for death education and hospice care education.Methods：By using stratified cluster sampling，a total of 713 nursing students were selected from one higher vocational college in Nanjing.A questionnaire survey was conducted among the students. Results：（1）The score of hospice care attitude in the nursing students was124.72±9.126；The score of personal worries of hospice care attitude was53.54±5.759；The score of professional anxiety of hospice care attitude was71.18±6.979.The score of death fear was20.51±4.777；The score of death escape was15.29±3.197；The score of natural acceptance was（20.08±2.756）；The score of approaching acceptance was27.22±6.031；The score of escaping acceptance was（13.13±3.63）.（2）Attitude towards hospice care was positively correlated with the dimension of death fear，death escape and approaching acceptance. Personal worries of hospice care attitude was positively correlated with five dimensions of attitude towards death（P < 0.05）.（3）Fear of death was the main factors influencing attitude towards hospice care of students in higher vocational colleges. Conclusions：The level of hospice care attitude in nursing students in higher vocational colleges is higher.Attitude towards death in nursing students tends to approaching acceptance.Death attitude has a certain impact on hospice attitude. It is necessary to strengthen the death education and hospice education in the nursing students to help them form a positive attitude to death and hospice care，so as to improve the quality of hospice care services.
