Abstract:AIMS：Effect of cluster nursing on prevention of central venous catheter related bloodstream infections in ICU patients. Methods：80 critically ill patients with central venous catheterization in ICU were divided into control group and observation group with 40 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing，while the treatment group underwent the cluster nursing intervention. Finally，each group's hospitalization time，indwelling time of central venous catheter，complications，incidence of central venous catheter-related bloodstream infection and other indicators were compared as well as analyzed. Results：（1）The average central venous catheter indwelling time（P=0.000 1）and hospitaiization time（P=0.002 5）of treatment group were both shorter that thoseof control group.（2）The CVC-RI incidence of treatment group was 5.0% and significantly lower than that of control group which was 22.5%（X2=5.165，P=0.048）. The CRBSI incidence of control group was 20.0%（X2=6.135，P=0.029），while that of treatment group was 2.5% and significantly higher thanthat of the control group. Conclusions：After the implementation of cluster nursing intervention，the patients who have central venous catheterization in the ICU can significantly shorten catheterization time and hospitalization time，reduce complications，as well as lower the incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infections.
