Abstract:Objective：To understand the working pressure of surgical nurses in a Nanjing Class A tertiary Hospital，provide reference for hospital managers and nurses，and enhance work efficiency and quality of healthcare. Methods：Conduct the survey about surgical nurses’ work pressure through questionnaires and sampling survey in a Nanjing hospital. Results：The respondents’ average score of working pressure is 2.904 ± 0.535，which is between slight degree（2 points）and high degree（3 points）. The pressure differences among different nursing age and title groups are statistically significant. In the research，surgical nurses’ work pressure is mainly from “worries about mistakes at work”，“excessive requirement from patients”，“ impoliteness of patient family members”. Conclusion：From the point of management，reduce the source of nurse work pressure is suggested. In order to relief nursing work pressure，hospital management departments should add more human capital，improve support systems，reduce the unnecessary inspection and examination，and concern about nurses’ families and lives. In addition，it is recommended to provide more psychological consultations to nurses，and increase their job satisfaction and ensuring the qualities of nursing and medical safety.
